A new restaurant serving healthy food has opened up in Preston, aiming to bring a fine dining eating experience to customers in the city.
‘Saladishy’ opened up today (October 18) welcoming in locals to the newest and brightest spot on the high street serving meals all under 500 calories each.
With a huge selection of breakfasts, salads, wraps, smoothies and hot drinks, the owner of the new and exciting restaurant believes this could be the new hot spot to help revitalise the high street.

Oozing with style and a modern design typical of larger city restaurants, Saladishy is now the ultimate Instagrammable healthy hot spot giving customers a “high-quality dining experience”.
Despite the restaurant sure to entice customers in with the décor alone, owner Ishmael Bahadur wanted to create a unique healthy place to eat after his own experiences led to a change in his own way of life.
In 2017, Ishmael suffered with pancreatitis and was hospitalised for months, which led to him looking for healthier food options more often.
“I was hospitalised for the best part of nine months and whilst I was in hospital I was gravely ill and I didn’t think I was going to make it and nor did the doctors,” Ishmael said.
“When I came out of the hospital I wanted to eat healthily but everything you look at, Deliveroo, Just Eat or even coming out in town, there’s not very many healthy options.
“Everything has gluten in it, saturated fats, high calories, sugars – I thought, there’s a market here.”
After three years of planning, designing both the menu and the décor, the restaurant is up and running and ready to welcome in people near and far.
Ishmael said: “There’s healthy options but everybody thinks healthy food is boring – what we’re doing is making healthy food amazingly tasty so that people can experience both.”
With services such as grab and go and build your own salads and wraps, there is something on the menu that caters for each individual’s needs.
For Ishmael, Preston is the perfect city to open up what he hopes is the first of many healthy food branches, not only because it is his hometown, but because it can help bring another element to the high street.
Ishmael said: “When I was setting this up, everybody was saying, ‘why are you doing it in Preston?’ and ‘is your market right for Preston?’ – but why should it not be right for Preston?
“Hopefully it’ll attract people to the town centre because anyone who wants to eat something nice, they go to Manchester.
“When I look at Preston, it looks depressing – we’ve had Covid, we’ve had a lot of the shops shutting down, and the high street is becoming depressed.
“I’m trying to revitalise, in the way that I can, this high street so that it’s a location and destination to come to.”
Saladishy is now open in Fishergate, Preston and with the style, food and atmosphere, there’s no doubt that this will soon become a hot spot for the developing city.
