Homemade Cinnamon Twists Recipe – Make perfectly crisp and soft cinnamon twists with just 4 simple ingredients. They’re a delightfully sweet dessert or anytime snack!

Why We Love This Recipe
Warm, crunchy, and soft Cinnamon Twists are easy to make at home. AND, bonus, they make the house smell fabulous!
All you need is 4 simple ingredients: frozen puff pastry sheets, sugar, cinnamon, and a pinch of salt to make an irresistible treat. The store-bought dough is sliced into thin strips, which are then twisted and twice coated in cinnamon sugar, once before and once after baking. From start to finish this cinnamon twist recipe takes less than 30 minutes!
After they are baked crisp and warm, twists with cinnamon and sugar are a fabulous snack to serve with hot tea or coffee, or as a dessert dunked in your favorite sweet dip.

- Puff pastry – frozen and thawed
- Granulated sugar – or brown sugar or coconut sugar
- Cinnamon – or pumpkin pie or apple pie spice blends for seasonal treats
- Salt – a pinch to balance the sweetness of the sugar

How to Make Cinnamon Twists
Preheat the oven to 400°F. Set out a baking sheet and line it with parchment paper.
Next, set out a small baking dish and combine the sugar, cinnamon, and salt. Mix well.
Unfold the puff pastry sheet on a clean work surface. Cut the square in half. Then cut each half in 12 narrow strips.
Pro Tip: I find it’s easiest and super fast to cut the strips evenly with a pizza cutter.

You should have 24 strips total, about ½ X 5 inches long.
Lay out two strips at the time.

Fold the strips over lengthwise to make very thin, yet fatter, ribbons of pastry dough.

Then twist the two strips together like in the photos. No need to braid or get fancy!

Place the twisted pastry in the cinnamon sugar and shake to coat.

Lay on the parchment paper.
Twist and coat the rest of the puff pastry strips creating 12 cinnamon twists total. Spread them out on the baking sheet 1 ½ to 2 inches apart.

Bake for 10 to 14 minutes until very puffy and golden.

Once out of the oven, shake the cinnamon twists in the cinnamon sugar a second time to give them a fresh coating.

Serving Suggestions
Serve simply with a hot cup of coffee or tea, or big glass of chilled milk.
